Bill requires Medicare coverage for HPV, the cause of cervical cancer

CLUW and the National Council of Women's Organizations, to which it belongs, are supporters of H.R. 4055, as is the AFL-CIO.

A Philip Randolph Institute joins CLUW in support of H.R. 4055 to require Medicare coverage of HPV test as part of cervical cancer screening for older women, noting that cervical cancer affects black women at double the rate of white.

CCPW Partner Organizations
Women In Government's Campaign to Eliminate Cervical Cancer: Join in the fight to eliminate cervical cancer by contacting your state legislators. Click on your state to find out how it fared in the 2005, 2006, and 2007 reports on states' efforts to eliminate cervical cancer.
Tamika and Friends, Inc. is a national non-profit organization created by cervical cancer survivor Tamika Felder to raise awareness about cervical cancer's link to the human papillomavirus virus through a network of survivors and their friends.
The Yellow Umbrella Organization (originally Popsmear.org) is a non-profit organization created by Boston musician, cervical cancer survivor and CLUW member Christine Baze to raise awareness in the worldwide fight against cervical cancer. The centerpiece of her work is the Yellow Umbrella Concert, where she uses her music to educate the audience about cervical cancer and how to prevent it.

Say Something: Tamika Felder and Christine Baze are both cervical cancer survivors and CLUW members. They drew on the strength it took to beat cancer to start Tamika and Friends, Inc. and PopSmear.org, two unique non-profits that help educate women about HPV and the prevention of cervical cancer. Now these women have combined the powerful forces of their organizations to build "Say Something."

The Balm In Gilead, one of CLUW's partners in the national campaign to increase public awareness about cervical cancer and HPV, launched the ISIS Project (Intimate Sessions for Informed Sexuality). Its primary mission is to educate and empower Black women about cervical cancer and HPV. 
Partnership to End Cervical Cancer is a coaltion working to ensure access to cervical cancer vaccination and screening as part of routine preventive healthcare for all women in the United States.
