We are pleased to announce that CLUW’s Violence Against Women Task Force and the Family Violence Prevention Fund, a nationally known non-profit dedicated to the prevention of family violence, have received a grant from the Office for Victims of Crime of the U.S. Department of Justice to develop a curriculum, video and train the trainers conference on domestic violence for union representatives.

With increasing frequency, we hear of reports about domestic violence that spills into the workplace. Victims of domestic violence may be disciplined by management for job performance problems and can lose opportunities for promotion and advancement. When issues such as high absenteeism and declining job performance result in disciplinary actions, union stewards become involved. Through this training, union representatives will learn how to integrate domestic violence assistance and resources into their existing member and employee programs and services. We’ll keep you updated on new developments in this exciting project!
